Yeah, that's where your trigger finger belongs while you're cycling the slide.

Yeah, for sure. Because if you did that, this could happen to you:

Of course, if you are wearing your "bullerproof cheaters" you'll be OK.

You should only shoot at targets that portray the national symbol (and protected species) of your primary consumer.

These were in the packaging of one of my sons' airsoft guns.

Never look down the barrel of a gun, to see if it is jammed. Always get someone else to do it for you.

Another safety tip.

Right, only look down the barrel to see if it is loaded.

There is a serious, semi-pro Airsoft community out there...we promote sportsmanship, teamwork, a respect for the military, and of course safety and marksmanship. Unfortunately, like the owners of real firearms, we don't get to choose who our "ambassadors" are :bang:

What, exactly, does that mean?

Thread drift - If you are part of that community, any suggestions as to which manufacture has a better product and maybe which ones should be avoided?

By "semi-pro" I mean we spend a lot of money on the game :)

There is no "pro" airsoft teams I know of, but I think it's important to differentiate between those who play occasionally in the backyard (which I don't personally condone) and organized teams who play in large-scale organized events. I know that my time spent with the Minnesota Airsoft Assocation and Team Paladin amounts to a second job.

As for recommending certain guns...

For training with pistols - gas blowback guns manufactured by Tokyo Marui or KWA/KSC should serve you well. I'd stay away from anything made by WE (crap), Western Arms (too expensive and finicky), and Marushin (also crap). Tanaka makes expensive but decent revolvers, but they do not operate realistically,

For safety gear, standard JT/Brass Eagle Paintball masks work fine. If you don't want full-face protection, goggles with full-coverage of the eyes and ANSI z.87.1 impact protection are recommended.

For rifle/subguns I recommend the Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs) made by Tokyo Marui, or the Chinese clones of the Maruis made by JG/Jing Gong/Echo1.

Some airsoft teams have shown up at some of the paintball fields I use, and a lot of the weapons are surprisingly realistic looking. I had to do a double take to verify that a young girl wasn't actually carrying an M1 onto an adjacent field one day. Not that I'm opposed to the M1, I own one, I just wanted to advise her that for the sake of her shoulder, she might want to use something else until she bulks up more.

And while I appreciate the game and have no problem with it in principle, I gotta say, all those damn BBs you leave all over the field can be annoying!
