As a young lad growing up in the North Woods, I learned early on to always carry a gun in the woods.

Many a potentially aggressive squirrel has fallen as a result of my parents’ wise teachings…

So... perhaps that would be a poor place to go hiking right about now?

If you are trying to determine what it was, which trap do you use?

All of them? :D

Woops. Not a good idea to leave your tent open in bear country. Critters checking your tent out in isolated areas is very common. (My first experience was a racoon sniffing my ear.) Not generally much of a concern unless you leave them a way in that doesn't require them to rip your tent. Bet he wore clothes that smelled like food too.

Heh heh. Had a similar experience when I awoke, in my small pup tent on a cycling trip, to the sound of a raccoon playing with the zipper on the nylon screen. They probably had been able to open one before.

For the good of the children we should ban animal coming into camping areas. All parks should have signs up saying no animals allowed in campsites.

Hmmm would that violate the Landlord/Tenant rules? Maybe signs could be given out during check in for each tenter/camper? :D :D

This is why I carry a .41 magnum in the woods. I've drawn on bears a few times. I can usually talk them into leaving the area but those 250 grain solid core's are a comfort.

Good thing carrying with a permit is legal in state parks.

Got to watch for those squirrels.

Just ask Pinnacle. He has stories that go on and on…

Damned things nearly carried him off into the wild. He never gave up, though. And to make his point, he has left something of the fallen behind, lest the vermin crave revenge…

But does he have to collect those war trophies.......it was tough explaining to my son why he has the squirrel ears on the necklace.
