I'm quite amazed - I signed up, and I thought I was the cheapest guy in the group. Oh well, thanks for the effort, Bob.

Damn, I won't be able to use the 'greasy fingers' excuse if I don't score well.

Wow, John Rosnow shot four times, and finished in four consecutive spots. Now that's consistency! :)

Well, the Defensive Handgun League is over for this season and I thought the shooters might like some brief statistics. We had 232 shooters report scores in the (9) nine matches we held. We always had like 20 % of our shooters who, for one reason or another, chose not to report their scores. We therefore had more than 250+ shooters, and definitely had more than 200 individuals shoot once we subtract out folks who shoot more than once. Without counting, I believe probably 50 different people tried out the league and learned something from the experience.

Let’s assume the 250 is a good number and that we fired an average of 85 rounds per match. That’s over 20,000 rounds downrange and that is a lot of shooting practice. I don’t like stats well enough to calculate average bullet weight, cost of ammo, targets used, sodas consumed etc., etc., so I’ll leave that to you.

The stats aside I saw some real progress among many of the shooters. Jomar seemed to catch on nicely and I boldly predict he will develop into a good shooter with practice. Kidding aside, I received many notes and comments about enjoying the chance to draw at the range, strong and weak hand shooting, barricade shooting, shooting at turning targets, etc. The favorite, of course, was the low light shooting.

I enjoyed running the league and want to thank Greg, Keith, Brian, Mike, Tom and the many others who made this possible. Special thanks to John Monson who owns Bill’s and to Ryan and his staff who made it a good and safe experience for all.

I don’t plan to run the League again next year, but would be happy to be a shooter and assist someone else in running things. I love action shooting and particularly enjoy IDPA. Keith Cekalla and I will publish our Twin Cities IDPA schedule shortly.

That said some of our shooters really need to “cowboy up” and stop whining. If you have a suggestion, have a solution in mind and be willing to help. I had a shooter in my face over wanting to shoot his rifle in the Defensive HANDGUN League. Please, if you see yourself doing this, remember match directors and club officers are unpaid volunteers. We get to do the planning, be at all the matches, not have the chance to sit around and visit, listen to gripes, some valid some BS, but we do it because we love the sport. As a group shooters are better than most, but the few can make an otherwise enjoyable event a lot less fun. Think about it before you complain about that the scores come too slowly, the COF was too easy, too hard, the range too cold, the typeface too small. Be part of the solution, not the problem. Everyone will have a better time!

You can buy them on idpa.org or targetbarn.comwhere they are $33 per hundred plus $6 shipping or $.39 a piece.

Ryan, the manager at Bill's North, has kindly offerred to order them in bulk for us and pass on their discount. Call Bill's range at 763 792-GUNS and tell them you want the IDPA paper targets, 100 is the minimum. The cost will be $25 plus tax and you'll need to give them a credit card or you can stop in and pay cash. They'll take your name and call you when they come in.

400 is the minimum order and we are half way there as I've ordered 200 for my personal use. That's less than $15 more for the second hundred, less than $.27 each. Call by next weekend, the order goes in on April 3rd.

Let me add another one. This made winter tolerable for me!

Hey no complaints from me! I'm used to shooting IDPA down in Faribault where if you want to know what your score was, you show up next week, 'cause Leo ain't got time fer that newfangled inter-web computer stuff. The CoF was hard (well, for me anyway), but's that's a good thing!

And I see we must have had a new guy named 'Ceilalla', 'cause there's no way Keith Cekalla managed to shoot a lower score than me, even with a snubbie.

To kinda quote Leo "there are a lot of things I don't give a damn about and the freakin ( Leo would never say "freakin") web is sure the hell one of them things".

The man can certainly shoot, but we can't write so you can read it and this from a guy who prints like a 3rd grader himself, well maybe a first grader. BTW, I just gave Cekalla this forum's web address, so he'll be speaking to both of us Pat. Bet he requires us to kneel and go prone in matches just to see me try to get back up!~

Call me stupid or something, but when one figures their score and writes it down they have three choices, remember it and write it down aty home, write it down and put it on a chart at home, or wait patiently until they are posted. I could care less about other people's scores. It may be nice to compare, but I'm only interested in MY score , any improvment, etc.

I, too, would like to thank Bob & his associates for putting on the winter shoot. It was tough for me as I only have done one other league type shoot. It did point out where my weak areas are and that's always good to know.

My biggest complaint was more with the weather, as for two or three shoots, it seemed like it snowed on THOSE particular days!!! ( I HATE having to drive in the snow because of some of the idiots that decide they need to drive like retarded banshees.) Bob's a good guy, but I think he has little control over the weather!! :D
