She wasn't carrying at a soccer game so much as in a public park. Did anyone check the crime statistics in that park? What do you think would have happened if she'd told the sheriff she'd be perfectly willing not to carry provided he guaranteed, in notarized writing, that she and her child wouldn't be crime victims there, and the sheriff would be responsible for all damages if they were.

Now for the paranoid theory: She and her husband were murdered by Brady Bunchists and it's being covered up to make them look bad.

I hate to say it, but that was my very first thought.

So the husband shot her and then took himself out, or was it the other way around?

Sad story...

Very, very sad.
I like the comment about suing the sheriff. Even though she is dead, I wonder if the suit will still go forward? It should.

Really??

Might have been part of the reason why she was carrying at the Soccer game.

my first thought was "murder suicide, yeah right", especially with what sounds like a corrupt, hateful sheriff being arround, also considering that he wouldnt have any motive against them would he?.

ok conspiracy hat off.

I think some of you folks need to check and insure your conspiracy hats aren't made of tin foil.
The children ran from the house after witnessing the father shoot the mom.

I guess this squashes the conspiracy rumors:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/09/gun.soccer.mom.dead/index.html

Quote:
A Pennsylvania soccer mom was chatting with a friend via webcam when she was shot to death by her husband, who then went upstairs and shot himself, police said Friday.
...
Hain was in her kitchen talking with a friend via webcam just before her death, police said.

The friend, who police will not name, was looking away from the computer screen when he heard a shot and a scream, police said. He turned back to the monitor, he told police, and no longer saw Meleanie Hain but instead saw Scott Hain firing several rounds from a handgun toward where his wife had been.

Well, the existence of the abusive husband sure helps understand the initial attraction to armed self-defense, even though the fact of his existence escaped the first time through the news cycle. Sad than she let her guard down one last time.

Not a good place for it. She may never have had a chance either way but who knows.
