I pulled my bull-barrel Ruger .22 pistol out of its rug and discovered to my horror that I must have left it on, even though I tried to be careful not to, and always return it to zero. It was set to "11" (which will amuse you if you're a Spinal Tap fan).

Anyway, I naturally assumed the battery was a goner and bought a replacement. After installing it . . . I still don't have a dot.

Any suggestions?

Problem solved!

Just make sure the cover is really, really, really, double-extra tight!

Now I look like an idiot!

Whew - that's good Dave. Every red dot I've seen goes to 11. I have two that do that .

I bet it's because including the 0 or "off" position that makes 12 contact points on the dial which is somehow easier or more symmetric to manufacture that one that would have 11 contact points including the 0 or "off" position if it only went to 10.

Aww, I wish they went to 11 because of "Spinal Tap," but I guess it was not to be.

This situation is a really good reason not to need to rely on this magical red dot!

I've lost mine a couple of times in competition so I know what it's like. They're great when they work, but they always give out at the worst possible moment.....Thank you Mr. Murphy.
