In this article: Years of 911 calls couldn't save Lino Lakes woman

Not even a hint of the sardonic, maybe even a little supportive, at least I think I detect an admission that there may be reasonable people who believe in a reasonable reason to arm yourself:
Quote:
Some people have asked why Pam Taschuk, as scared as she was, didn't arm herself. It does not appear that she applied for a permit to carry a weapon.

You can't make any conclusion from that short statement.

One of my best friends of 25 years worked with her.

I discussed this exact issue with him. To his knowledge, she did have a permit & a handgun. He had heard that it was found in her purse. I responded by telling him "now you know why I carry all of the time...even at home"

I don't see it as being a statement about permit to carry at all...

What I do see is them trying to twist it into: "Why wasn't more done to lock up a violent man for something someone said he MIGHT do"...

Yes, I realize that eventually he did just that....

But the "victim" here should have been more proactive YEARS before it had gotten to this level and she didn't.

The STRIBE has shown that they are as biased on the domestic violence topic as they are on the carry rights. And NOT in a favorable way.

Because he was convicted of domestic abuse, Taschuk no longer could have firearms, but somehow he got his hands on one.
This I think is the sentence that says something. . . . Ah, the Strib confessing that gun laws don't work

Obviously if Lautenberg was worth the paper it was written on, this poor wife would still be alive. Here we have the Strib actually confessing that the Lautenberg amanedment isn't & doesn't prevent a single murder. Yahoo! That is a step toward journalistic integrity.
