I went to GS for some 9mm brass that John was holding for me. Great guy. Got some .355 bullets as well.

Ran across Joel and we had a nice chat. It was great for me to meet the person behind the name and posts. Puts a different perspective, for me, on the forum and its content.

It was a good day. Bought a 329NG while there. I think it will see a lot of .44 sp rather than mags, but I reload that calilber so I have some control of the charge.

Again, I was glad to meet Joel and it was a good day!

Post subject:  He buys stuff?

I'll defer to him on that matter. I don't want to squeak for him......

Good question though...

Good to see the Rman, and, well, you'll just have to wait for the blog post I'm working on . . .

They have a certain COLT I cannot seem to cease thoughts of... I have the same model, just a longer barrel...

I will convince myself I need it...

One day soon...

I saw Joel once, I was one lane over. Never spoke to him, I kinda just "basked" in his glory.

the Smith and Wesson Model 28-2, the "Highway Patrolman". It's not an elegant gun; a plain blue finish, no expensive checkering or high-gloss polish.

I don't know Joel, those Smiths seem quite elegant to me. It's probably my engineering background speaking out but something functional, simple and effective is a much more elegant solution to me. Even with todays plastic, hammerless, laser equipped handguns, those Smith & Wesson revolvers have an appeal all of their own.

Very nice. I have one that I used for my carry weapon in the 1990s. I agree they have a certain charm. It's sort of like going fishing with a 1950s boat motor.

My first handgun was a 28 which I bought in AZ in 1972. Like a fool I sold it a few years later. I recently found a 98% 28-2 6" and had to have it. They don't make them like that anymore. The Rugers may be "heavier duty" but I won't part with the 28-2.

I got the provenance letter from S&W indicating that it was originally shipped to Farwell Ozman and Kirk in 1976. Local gun, no less!

And not to steal Joel's thunder, but this is what I bought whilst he was buying his gun yesterday... I think our both being there was a sign from the heavens that I HAD to have this.....

Yup. For those who might think that Rodentman's new one looks familiar, yup, it's a NightGuard, like that wonderful birthday present -- except his is a 6-shot .44 Magnum, while mine's an 8-shot .357.

Terrific guns.

I saw Joel once. I didn't actually 'meet' him. I think it was at BPR and I had just stopped in to pick up a copy of "The Book". I didn't realize it was Joel at the time as he kept his identity on the down-low. 8) I only learned this fact after I emailed him shortly after and he mentioned he was there when I bought the book. Someday I'll meet Joel. Someday...

Years and years ago, I happened to be in Book Stop in New Haven -- I was living there -- when somebody walked in and bought a copy of my first novel, The Sleeping Dragon.

Chuck -- the owner -- was working the counter that day, and smiled, as he handed the guy his change. "You know," he said, "I bet that if Joel Rosenberg, the author of the book, were here, he'd sign it for you."

The guy kinda shrugged. "Sure. I guess."

Chuck nodded at me. "That's him."

The guy looked me up and down. "Yeah, right," he said, as he walked out.
