Woman Beaten, Robbed while Reading Bible
Published : Monday, 15 Jun 2009, 8:26 PM CDT

MINNEAPOLIS - A woman says she was beaten and robbed of her bible and jewelry early Sunday morning in north Minneapolis.

Laura Krueger goes to a Farview Park bench just a few feet from her house everyday to read her bible.

Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Krueger says two teenagers attacked her from behind with some sort of pipe. She says the teens hit her about five times on the head. The teens didn't stop there. They continued to hit Krueger repeatedly while she was down, kicked her dogs and got away with her purse.

Krueger is disabled and terminally ill. She survives on social security checks.

When the thieves took her purse, they got all her medication, her wedding rings, and the last $1,400 Krueger has to her name.

Kruger and her family are especially hurt because for years Krueger has been the go to for troubled teens in the neighborhood. Her bible readings have taught Krueger forgiveness. Someday she'll forgive her attackers and hopefully return to her favorite park bench.

Why does the new software keep screwing up the links?

Binky,
Just post the link.
You can leave the [URL] tags off. It recognizes it as a link and posts it as such.
Apparently all the BBCode tags are not functional.

I fixed it for you. Not sure what you had wrong. I just re-did it.

Fairview park is far from the best place to be with jewelry and cash. Bible + firearm would be better than just the bible.

This can't be random violence.

I work a lot in North Minneapolis and NO ONE over there (especially punk kids) get's up before noon. What are they doing at 5am other than planning to rob her.

Why would she be carrying $1400 in cash, anyway?

Well ... there's the problem. "Foregiveness" doled out carte blanche, in a context where the offending party acknowledges no wrong, promised no change of action, and no change of heart. The extension of "forgiveness" in this way is nothing more than a de facto blessing upon those who do evil. In the Bible, you are supposed to REPENT and at the other side of repentance is forgiveness. But ... they read the Bible as carefully as they read the constitution I guess.

' nuff said.

I'm of the sentiment that God forgives; Scott doesn't :!: Having said that any forgiveness does not preclude the administration of appropriate punishment.
