I'm hoping the good forum members here can recommend an open to the public outdoor range, as close as possible to the Twin Cities, with a suitable distance for pistol. It seems that all the nearby ranges are private clubs or in the case of Oakdale Gun Club have a 25 yard pistol range.

Outdoor
Close to the Twin Cities
Open to the public (for a fee of course)
10 yard or less pistol range

Does such a range exist?

I believe beaverbrook is looking for members, the cost savings make it worth looking at.

the streets and alleys seem to work for the thugs..... just curious why does it have to be an outdoor range?

Because it is a much more enjoyable experience. Not as loud, and hey, the weather is great in Minnesota right now. Thanks for the two suggestions above. I will try out Wild Marsh, even though it is a good hour and a half from where I live. Man, when I was a kid we had a great range right in Edina; Brian Wipperman I think it was called. It's sad you have to travel so far now.

Sort of is an understatement (which I'm sure was Dean's point).

$15 for a half hour, no holster work, bullseye targets only...

Yeah, they can bite me. Especially since our tax dollars paid for their little club.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the south metro training range and my thoughts are the same as yours, Mark. It's open to the public only four hours a week and is ridiculously overpriced. Wipperman had indoor and outdoor available to the public all the time (at least it seemed so). I heard Edina had to pay a s**tload of $$$ to clean the lead out of the hillside. I know I went trap shooting there in the mid eighties for the last time. I took gun safety there as a teenager and shot many a different kind of firearm both inside and out.
