I hunt with a Mossberg 500 w/ 24" ported slug barrel (non-rifled). It's a solid platform and, at under $300, a very good value: Mossberg 500 SLUGSTER

It's been with me for the last three seasons and, while I have yet to fire it in the woods, seems to have potential.

I use a Mossberg 500 with the factory 'bird barrel' with an 'improved cylinder' choke installed for deer. Have taken several deer with it. Had it for about 15 years and have had no problems with reliability or accuracy.

I've thought about buying a slug barrel with 'rifle sights', but haven't made up my mind on that yet.

Tweaked Remington 870 HD.
Took off the 18" barrel and installed a 20" improved cylinder barrel with fiber optic rifle sights, Boyd thumb hole stock and a sling... making it a kind of all-purpose HD, deer, upland game, skeet gun.
It'll bench 6" groups at 100 yards with Brenneke KO or Federal True-Ball rifled slugs, but I won't shoot it at deer beyond 75 yards.
Performed wonderfully pheasant hunting in Montana last fall.

I use a Mossberg 500 handed down from my father. Taken many deer with it, and it has interchangeable barrels so I also use it for pheasant hunting.

It's not new and sexy like some of the ones out there, but it's reliable and accurate and that's all I care about.

Do any of you guys have any good websites for shotgun accessories (stocks and barrels mostly)? Thanks.
