I know you're all going to be shocked to learn that something liek this could happen in Chicago. After all, handguns are illegal in Chicago, right?

here's the link:
http://suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-oak07.html

Synopis:
a serene meeting for a book club is interrupted by perp with a gun. Perp announces robbery, robs one woman, orders others to strip, sexually assaults 2 of them, flees when one fights back. Perp flees, is later chased by cops, shoots self in head while trying to shoot over his shoulder at cops.

Why oh why would people want to let the criminal decide how far the crime is going to go?

Why?

Gee, you silly guy, if the victim fights back, someone could get hurt. How many times do the cops gotta tell ya'?

Me? I'm over 50, a bit over weight, healthy but not particularly fit. I'm also an ornery, mean, nasty and violent sumbitch. If necessary, anyone assaulting me is "gonna lose an eye". At a minimum, that is...

A youngster (he was 19 and a weightlifter, I was 31 or so) was once - in jest - threatening to kick my ass. I told him that he probably could but when he was done, he wasn't gonna look the same as when he started. My attitude hasn't changed a bit in 20 years.

Maybe they didn't have their Key Carry Permit.

Again, a pure work of fiction, just like the D.C. article a few days back.

There can be no gun crimes in Chicago, because they made up a rule that forbids the carrying of firearms.

No fair.
