Father badly beaten after trying to protect his daughter at Valleyfair

6 men remain in the Scott County jail following what police call a brutal assault on a father trying to protect his daughter.

Shakopee police say as the crowd was leaving Valleyfair Amusement Park around midnight on the 4th of July, the victim's daughter was confronted by two men.

"The 12 year old daughter was either touched or slapped in the buttocks area," Scott County Attorney Patrick Ciliberto said. "The father confronted them (the men) by yelling at them for what they had done to his daughter," he added.

Police say the two men called their friends, who were also in the park. The group of seven men and a juvenile then confronted the father.

"They beat him to the ground and then, the evidence that we have, when he was on the ground, they used their feet on him. They were kicking him in the face when he was down," Ciliberto said.

According to the criminal complaints, the men were stomping on the 41 year old father as he lay on the ground, unconscious.

He suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured right orbital bone and possible subdural bleeding on the brain. "We don't know if there are permanent injuries yet," the County Attorney said.

Shakopee Police found the suspects in the parking lot. Seven of them were arrested and one man ran from the scene and police are still looking for him. Of the seven taken into custody, one was a 14 year old.

The six adults charged and held in jail are Devondre Evans-Lewis, Andrew Shannon, Darris Evans, Terry Arnold, Derry Evans, and Anthony Gildersleeve.

The Scott County Attorney says several of the men have criminal histories and they are all from the Twin Cities metro area. They range in age from 18 to 22 years old.

All six adults have been charged with 3rd degree felony assault causing substantial bodily harm.

Bleedin' cowardly weasels!

Actually, that's insulting to weasels. Those men (and boys) are the human equivalent of mosquitoes, ticks and poison ivy.

channel 11 kept running the pics of the accused during the broadcast, which was unusual as they were all black and either had previous booking photo's or were standing in front of height markers for their High school graduation pictures.

Waiting to hear from a neighbor kid who works there about the incident, last time there something in the news about behaviors there, he said the news grossly under spoke the event.

Valley Fair is posted no-carry, but that's okay, as it's a perfectly safe place.

You can bet their PR department is hard at work trying to kill the story.

Of course nothing will be said about those same adults touching a 12-year-old female on the buttocks. That would be normal inner-city behavior.

If nothing else, wouldn't this be a great opportunity to barrage Valley Fair with emails and snail mail about their policies?

Why is this hitting the news now, when it happened on the Fourth?

No ghetto / gangsta will ever fight you one on one. They only fight when they have overwhelming advantage. Anyone who lives in the city has seen this too many times. You stand up to some mouthy punk and they run away like a cat being chased by a garden hose, and the same mouthy punk returns 10 minutes later with a carload of his buddies. NOW he's ready to fight.

I went to the Valley Fair website and left a comment. I have two teenage children and I want to know what they are doing to crack down on gangstas and hood rats. This isn't the first story about Valley Fair - it's becoming a pattern.

EDITED: WCCO's coverage

From the article:
Quote:
Witnesses told police that the fight began when one of the men slapped the girl on her buttocks. The father responded by yelling at him. The man then used his cell phone to call his seven friends over to "get these bitches," according to the mother of the girl.

I'll bet you anything these a-wipes were causing trouble all day long in the park. I wonder if Valley Fair can be charged if they had reports on these pricks but failed to kick them about because they didn't want to make a scene?

 IT IS? Sheesh, I never even saw the sign! On another note, holster selection would be an important factor depending on the 'rides' you plan to go on!

Smartcarry or pocket carry would be a great choice for Valley "Beat Down".

Remember the dregs of society are everywhere that is why you should carry everywhere. It would have been a great opportunity to keep some young "men" from breeding.

This is truly outrageous. This father will be living with the effects of this beating for a very long time if not the rest of his life. This is something people don’t seem to comprehend. His life and his families’ life will be adversely affected for months, maybe years. Valleyfair security aided in detaining the culprits, I wonder if they carry guns. I’m betting not! If he had pulled a gun and used it to defend himself from this attack he would be vilified as a gun toting wacko I’m sure. After all you don’t need guns where there are children present.

Chances of rowdy 18-22 year olds being escorted out of Valley Fair - 0.00%

Chances of responsible adult open carrying (or being caught concealed carrying) being escorted out of Valley Fair - 100%

Sounds like an opportunity for one of the instructors here to educate and train the adult(s) of this family-----assuming the father isn't permanently injured.

Yikes, seven perps. If the father had been a permit holder and fired shots, it would be hard for him prove he was a reluctant participant in this incident.

I feel for this guy, because I too believe in defending your family's honor.
