oh snappp.

Anyways, looks like pheasant hunting in south dakota with my pops is out the window again for this weekend. Gonna wait another 2 weeks or so. This gives me a chance to fill my tag with the monster buck that has been seen out on our property.

Got two nice bucks for our group of six hunters. I saw more deer on the drive home (3) than I saw the entire week I was hunting (2). I never fired my gun.

Too much damn corn in.

I'm thinking that the deer voted for Obama.

4:30 Sunday afternoon

My wife's deer. Taken at about 50 yards on the move with her Rem 700 in .243

The poor dear made it about fifty yards before she expired.

Of the three of us, I was the only one to see any deer, let alone shoot one. I saw 5. The first three were in escape mode and were running at half speed through the woods. I got one in my scope but it would not have been a clean shot.

The next day a doe and her yearling were double timing it through the woods and they came within 20 yards of my stand. I normally don't like shooting deer moving that fast, but I had the doe framed beautifully in my scope and one shot did the trick. She ran 40 or 50 yards and dropped. It was a rear lung shot with a 30.06 with no exit wound. The bullet fragments tore through a lung, the liver and the stomach.

The yearling didn't know what the hell to do. it cut 90 degrees and stopped about 80 yards away behind a tree and some brush. I had it in my scope and really wanted to shoot for my first double, but the shot was not clean. it ran around some more and kept coming back to check on momma, but I never had a clean shot.

Now it's time to get back to hunting pheasant.
