Hi all, I plan on going small game hunting this week and this will be the first time for me hunting something other than phesant. I am con cerned that I might be ticketed for deer hunting if I go out with my AR or my .22. Should I be concerned? Thanks! |

Don't shoot a deer and you'll be fine. |

The .22 shouldn't pose a problem in this regard any time of year. There are restrictions imposed by the DNR regarding the possession of rifles during deer season and a few days before and after. It's in the book of hunting regulations. This time of year none of them apply. |

If you have a small game license, you can be hunting small game such as rabbits and squirrels, no problem with a .22 rimfire. You can even use the rimfire for pheasants, it is legal with short, long or long rifle (pg 43 DNR game laws) just make sure you have a pheasant stamp. As far as your AR, I use to fox hunt with some brothers, they used AR's in .223 all the time, no legal problem at all. Not saying that you may run into a DNR officer that doesn't like the black rifle, that is his problem, but nothing illegal. Oh ya - DeanC wrote: Don't shoot a deer and you'll be fine. I use a AR coyote hunting, No license required no season no bag limit only regulation I can think of is no useing a light for shining coyote while in possesion of a rifle a shotgun is ok. Oh and the no centerfire 1wk before and after deer season. |
