I am a regular fixture in the Gopher, and REQUIRED to carry by the magagement, and I'd get crap from the owner George if I didn't. After CCW was first enacted George had a funny sign about handing all your guns to "Sheriff George" at the bar, and I ignored it and just carried anyway. Then George got robbed at gunpoint and changed his mind, and put up sings ENCOURAGING concealed carry. Since then the NRA showed up to do a story on the place, and it was after that when this homeboy gangsta from Chanhassen (Andrew) came into the place and was puttin' his tag on the door and the bar that I found out about this forum.
At any rate, if you want the best Coneys in town in a place that appreciates people who are armed to the teeth, go to the Gopher, and remember to curse liberally while you're ordering your Coney's and beer... In the Gopher, using the "F" word is just good manners...

I have not been there in years. We should have a get together there for all of us "east siders"!

Mmmm, coneys. I never miss an opportunity to take out of town vendors to the Gopher. It is a real cultural experience.

The first time that I went there I was a little shocked - I ordered a Coney - and was unceremoniously thrown an oscar meyer weiner with some chili on it.
I replied - WTF is this? This is not a coney. A coney is a white hot-dog - called a snappy in Upstate NY -
The reply was - Too f-ing bad that's what we got - You going to eat that f-ing thing or what?
At that moment I knew I had found nirvana - if there is such a place...

You are lucky that you didn't order a banger, you would have gotten whacked on the side of your head..............................

Reminds me of the time I was at the Gopher and a female co-worker and first time visitor asked "are these hot dogs pork or beef?" The response and her reaction were priceless.

Better customer relations anyway
IIRC, shortly before St. Patrick's day the bartender at the Gopher had an altercation with a customer. said customer hauled him over the bar and broke his jaw. My Father In Law reported that the wired jaw added something special to his profanity laced diatribe on almost any subject.
You can't make that kind of ambiance up

No, wiseacre, that it's *my* kind of place.
(It may or may not be *his*- that's for him to decide.)
