Let me know. It's time for me to get in the game, and if the timing is right I will do just that.

Nail down an exact date and a time frame and I'll chalk it in. I'll even try to bring some friends.

Let me know and I'll look into getting out of classes for it. I can also potentially get some friends down if you'd like.

David Dill is the chair and he sets the agenda. At this point I'm not sure of the order the agenda will be discussed.

The may change the agenda to meet peoples needs. Dill is at:

571 State Office Building
100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55155
651-296-2190 or 800-339-0466

Unfortunately, that is too late for me with my Monday schedule.

I am sorry I will not be able to attend and finally support the community that I have had "free" membership in.

Maybe next time will work better.

I'll be down there from 4:30 to 6:00 today. It'll be interesting to see what happens in a committee meeting and hear any debate.

Anyone else planning on attending?

Committee meeting was very interesting. There was a good amount of humor thrown in, usually at the expense of the DNR, which made the 1-1/2 hours go quickly.

One immediate clarification. The current text of the bill is inaccurate. The bill in no way is meant to allow the transportation of loaded long guns. Currently loaded is defined as any live rounds in chamber or attached magazine. I have read that elsewhere but now I heard it from the authors mouth (Rep. Dill).

There was also mention of language being included to deal with those with P2C.

And finally there was discussion about allowing local communities that regulate firearms discharge, to require casing in transport.

Very vague right now but hopefully more information with the next draft of the bill.

So, this bill has nothing to do with hunting? It is only meant to allow people to carry without a permit in their car?

Then they might also add language that de-preempts this so we would be back to a piecemeal system? (as far as no permit carry)?

Wasn't it presented as a hunting related bill? or was that the media saying the DNR was in for some trouble of enforcing this?

We need to firmly oppose any attemt to loosen the state preemption.
