If you'd rather spend your time on activism rather than sorting out their silly process, do that ahead of time by checking that they have completed their silly process.
better? Better, but not best. If you want proof that you did your part, get a receipt. That's as far as you need to go. Not playing their silly games, and insisting on your right, is very much activism in its own right. Personally, I'd love it if a dozen permit holders a day notified the commissioner in person, at his office, of their intent to carry at the capitol... and that each one said, "By the way, get your head out of your ass on reciprocity." Oh, I'd double-triple love it if they were open carrying at the time, like I was. But that's just me.
Let's organize such an event! I'll go!

The first event will be the Tea Party on April 15th. I will keep an eye on this thread to see who is interested and organize further as we get closer to it.

Your letter has inspired me to print it out and while I am out and about tomorrow, to hand deliver it.
Thanks for making the PDF

Get the receipt. Proves you gave them notice.
Nice work Andrew.

Since we are trying to make a statement with OC, and since it's perfectly legal, with our permits, has anyone considered OC'ing a long arm?
I'm considering an old beat up Nagant M44....

Pick one you don't mind losing, possibly for a long time. Is it legal? Yes. Is it likely to get "noticed" by Capitol Security (and other LEO)? Certainly. Will it get confiscated/you "detained"? Who knows, but my money's on "you betcha"...

No long guns please. We are not trying to be provocative and we are not trying to egg on the Capitol police. We are just bringing awareness in a suttle way. If a media outlet does decide to focus in on us, we don't want to look like a bunch of nuts trying to make noise. We want to represent the carry community in an overly polite and civilized manner.

+1
Though I've got nothing against carrying long guns. If it were a 2A rally, then heck yeah. Seeing as how this is a tax deal, and we're sidekicking, pistols are probably the best idea.
But don't let that stop you from OC'ing your spotlessly mirror-shined, stainless steel Smith and Wesson 500.

Long arms would be for a more serious protest, and best done in large numbers.

With apologies to Arlo Guthrie:
You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. a gun nut.
And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. gun nuts.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant dropping off their notification at the commissioner's office while open carrying and walking out. They may think it's an organization.
And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day, walking in singin' a bar of Alice's Restaurant dropping off their notification at the commissioner's office while open carrying and walking out. And friends, they may thinks it's a movement.
And that's what it is, the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre Twin Cities Carry Civil Rights Movement, and all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it comes around on the guitar.drop off your notification at the commissioner's office while open carrying.
