Now I may be off-base here but I thought I would see if anyone else has volunteered for the RNC and has heard nothing back? I even emailed to see if I was still on the list and was told that IF I passed the background check I would be contacted by end of last week. Now you will have to take my word for it but I have NO criminal background and one moving violation in the last 20 years. I belong to no clubs or organizations at all. The ONLY thing I could think of is the fact that I have my carry permit in MN and Utah.

So, what do you think?

I think the RNC threw conservatives under the bus. I think I'm going to Ron Paul's party. 8)

They are going to block off the whole neighborhood. They will only allow special people they "know" are loyal Republicans, I'm told. The neo-cons still rule.

I have volunteered to assist the protesters, and got accepted right away! I probably won't be allowed within a half mile of the convention.

I just got an email Thursday to attend an orientation next week. I'm kind of surprised on how close to the start date it is but I signed up kind of late when i heard that they were short handed,

Maybe we should have a pro-gun / pro-reciprocity protest during the RNC... Maybe we could embarrass Timmy into getting off the pot.

Which organization did you go to, and what kind of work is it? I was thinking of going for being a street medic, but I'm a bit late. Maybe a legal observer?

I volunteered to protest but I'm there as an infiltrator.

I volunteered as an ACLU attorney, to represent folks that get arrested.

They do have legal observers as well, with video camers. I think you have to go to training for that.

There is a training session for lawyers on Tuesday, I'll know more then. Check the website, maybe.

All the National Guard soldiers in the capitol area have received a safety brief about the commies. Most of us will most likely not wear the uniform since we have already have trouble with the "tolerant" peace protesters. I will film all the litter and damage they leave behind. The capitol grounds keepers are worried about the memorials getting destroyed. Last year some anti-American lefty wrote F Bush and F the military in the Vietnam Memorials directory book. The magic marker the used on the wall came right off. These scum care nothing of democracy or any ones rights.

On your own, or for an organization?

I was just kidding about that. I won't be going anywhere near St. Paul that week.

A buddy of mine who will be there on the LEO side of the line said their expecting the protesters to get pretty nasty. He said they've been following some protester chatboards and forums about plans and strategies and seeing advice being given such as saving up your urine for months so you can splash it on the LEOs.

I have read some of the protester websites and have seen a FAQ where one question had to do with property damage and the reply was pretty much "tough shit..the capitalists are all part of the conspiracy and they deserve to have their property damaged as property is a tool of the elite to repress the masses" or some such bullshit.

I'll try to find that again.

It's no wonder that these groups have no credibility. But for anarchists, they sure are well organized.

When does that part of town start to implode? I wanted to eat at the Liffy again fairly soon, and I would like to make sure it is still there.

What is the best thing for people who don't want commies destroying stuff to do? I would think stay out of the way and help with clean up?

I won't be going any where near St. Paul either (unless we have another breakfast meet at the EFFEN gopher  :D ).

The biggest day is supposed to be Tuesday for a "Coalition March" . Based on past conventions in New York and Boston, the "experts" said 50,000 to 100,000 people. I can't imagine that, but I've never been to a convention.

Apparently there will be "Federal Zones" whenever the President or Vice-President is around. These "Federal Zones" are considered (by the Bush "Justice" Dept.), to be wherever the Secret Service happens to be. If an agent crosses the street, the "Federal Zone" automatically gets bigger.

Supposedly, any weapon in a "Federal Zone" can be a federal felony, regardless of any state carry permit. So, a word to the wise. I suppose we'll need a "test case" to see if this is now the law.

No wonder they expect lots of protesters. Democracy is messy.....Some of the protesters don't give a crap about your rights; neither does the Bush administration......
