anyone do cross-draw for carry? good? bad? dont matter???

I've heard nothing but bad things about cross-draw, and the biggest thing that I always remember is it too easy to block or stop you from drawing your gun from that position, because you have to come across your body.

from a practical standpoint, they make some good points.

ease of drawing while sitting in a car or booth.

For some, it is a more natural movement.

For some people, the draw move is less obtrusive in public.

alot of people with shoulder injuries in the past, feel cross draw does not hurt as much.


Cons are

You wave the muzzle around a good deal in the draw stroke, which is why many ranges and schools discourage them.

If you are plus sized, you belly slows you down on the draw stroke
and makes reaching around a bit of an effort.

I use appendix not cross draw. My father-in-law uses a cross draw with a 4" K-frame and likes it.

My BIL has a Bianci with an adjustable paddle. So he can convert it from strong side to cross draw. He keeps on cross draw. I belive its because he does a lot of driving.

I carry my 44 mag hunting and either carry it cross draw or in a shoulder holster. Strong side gets in the way of my rifle. Have WAY to many holsters for this gun; and some day I'm going to find one I like!

Mostly-

I have a Haugen crossdraw for my S&W 642 that I like for long car trips. It's much more comfortable and accessible than a strong-side rig, or my usual Mika pocket holster.
