Hi,
I had been reading TCC several years ago, but got out of the habit of coming here. Just came back and signed up.
I live in Alaska, but was born and raised 10 years in Minnesota and still have family there (who I should be visiting in November).
I work a different job for career and money, but work part time at a friend's gun store.
First CCW class was whenever the Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit was new, taught by Ron Avery. [My class was before they had finished writing the regs on how many hours would be required so we did Friday night and all day Sat and Sun; turned out they required 12 hours.] I had another ACHP class with Dennis Bromley, a local Alaska instructor, when a friend wouldn't get his permit without someone he knew in the class. Also had a shotgun/handgun class with 2 local police instructors, and Massad Ayoob's Judicious Use of Deadly Force (the classroom portion of LFI-1). And a Carbine/Handgun Lowlight class coming up in October.

Welcome. This is a pretty friendly group. You should fit in fine.
Educate us on Alaska's current rules. No permit needed, correct?

No permit needed for 21+, other requirements are basically equivalent to passing 4473/NICS check (felon, DV, drugs, etc.).
All other state permits honored.
Alaska residents can still get a permit, and it is recognized in 30+ states, including Minnesota.
I just saw that a (governor?) candidate in Kentucky is supporting Vermont-style no permit needed. Quite a change from just a few years ago.
