I had earlier posted a wish list for a revolver but not too many responses (thanks for yours, Joel!) since there evidently aren't many 9mm in revolvers, and (I suspect) revolvers may be declining in popularity since you don't have at least ten shots and a quick reload to finish the long gunfights that people are typically involved in. So how about the same wish list, only this time for a pistol?
1) Barrel length around 3-3.5"
2) Full size hand grip
3) 9mm
4) Small and light enough to carry and conceal

I realize maybe we get too many choices here, though the full size hand grip will cut down some of them. But looking for your suggestions on which of the options you might really recommend to a relatively new shooter and the girls of his family? Thanks for sharing your favorites!

Sounds like you didn't get much response on your other post (I didn't see it)...any how just so you get a response.......can't help you on the 9mm as I only carry 1911's in .45-with the excepton of a G30 .45 for carry with suits.........................

You didn't mention price range.. but I'd suggest looking at the Kahr P-9 or CW-9 ...

Or a Taurus PT-111 ...

hammAR,

Don’t forget that 1911s come in 9mm, or better yet 38 super.

The higher MV in the super makes it desirable for reliable bullet expansion.
I am a 1911 in .45 fan and on occasion I carry one myself, but let’s not forget the design is very flexible and comes in lots of calibers.

I'd go for the fullsized (relatively speaking) Kahr or the SIG 239 (larger and heavier, but easier to shoot for most, I think) if money's not particularly an issue; the Taurus Millenium series otherwise.

Another one that fits the bill is a Kel-tec P11 9mm. 3.25", 10 rounds, double stack, small enough but large enough. :)

Maybe there wasn't much of a respones to the revolver question because most people already have their dream revolver. :D Anyway, I'd sure like to have a 10 mm semi.

P7 M13,

It fails on the light weight criterion but it's a pass in all the others. Mine stills holds an 8" group at 100m off a sandbag. Not had for a barrel with close to 150K through it.

The Springfield XD9 9mm comes in a kit now with the kydex holster, kydex double mag pouch, and kydex mag loader for about $460. The nice thing is the 12 round mag has the extension (It's actually a mag for a full size 4.5" or 5" with a built on grip extension) is an excellent choice too.

The Glock 19 is also a a great conceal choice.
