Got a court appearance tomorrow. No, no, no, nothing serious, nothing that could cause permit issues or lockup time. Parked-car-related (not a parking ticket). Still, I'd like to keep my money where it belongs: in my bank account. That's all I should say until it's settled.  Rant to possibly follow down the road, AFTER the case is closed. -Mark |

$50 fee with no admission of guilt. I cost them more than $50. Long story short, Edina has a wonderful habit of blanket-ticketing registration and parking violations. I made the mistake of ordering my tabs on-line, and waiting for the DMV to get them to me. In the meantime, I was careful to not park on a public street and to keep the receipt in my car at all times. I did get pulled over a couple of times, but the officer each time took one look at my receipt and let me go. Edina decided to hit me while parked OFF-street. After talking to a few LEO and attorney friends, I decided to contest it. Hell, even a state trooper said it was BS (and a trooper criticizing a traffic citation is pretty darn rare, you have to admin). I'll pay $50 to get this off my back. -Mark |
