I am far from being a "super fan" so this is fantastic news only from an entertainment standpoint. My die-hard Viking fans are going crazy with excitment and my Packer buddies and jumping off a cliff at the thought of him wearing purple... www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/53568572.html

First some disclaimers: I'm not quite a fair-weather fan, but it's close. I love watching them when they play well, but I don't have time to watch a crappy team, and I'm not about to be stuck inside watching a game on a beautiful fall day.
Also, I like Favre as a player, I really do. He seems to me to a be someone who plays for the love of the game. I've never seen him act like an asshole or a cocky SOB after scoring.
That said, I have no interest in having him here (other than to piss off Packer fans). I'd rather the Vikings find SOMEONE who can start at quarterback this year and for the next several years. I don't think he'll play more than 6 games though.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think anything good is going to come from this. - It seems with Bret that it's just "me, me, me" and all media focus will be on him and nothing else. - He's old, and likely to get hurt. Can the O-line provide him the needed protection? Spending $12M on a guy that will probably end up playing a few games at best seems questionable. - There's a lot more to a successful football team than the quarterback. Do the Vikes have what it takes to compliment his talents? This whole thing makes me nervous. I want to see him and the Vikes do well, I truly do. I hope, at the very least, that he acts as a good mentor for the other QB's....cuz they could use that right now. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

They were saying on the radio that the ticket website was all balled up right after the announcement. sheepdog wrote: - There's a lot more to a successful football team than the quarterback. ^ I hope you're right, Dean! As far as the money thing goes....yeah, this will easily fill the dome for the season, assuming he plays throughout. Heck, #4 purple jerseys alone...
I wonder what Sage and Tarvaris are thinking right now?

I am proud to say that I haven't watched a Vikings game or any other NFL game in over 10 years. I now know 2 players names. Adrain Pederson and Favre. It doesn't matter, the Vikings never had and never will have what it takes to win the big game.

Farve will start Friday, instead of Jackson who was promised the start. He's the man, until he has another tantrum, at least.

Well, we're 4 games deep and I must say that my opinion has changed a bit since my post above. WHAT A GAME LAST NIGHT! Could be Brett's highlight game of the season. Let's just hope he stays healthy and these great performances continue...

Brent is probably happy to know he won't be forgotten. Brett says he's happy to be a Viking. Great game last night.

They've disappointed me too many times.

Beating division rivals matters - a lot - and they're 2-0 so far in that regard.
