I want to be able to look up adults currently under supervision or custody, Dakota county has a decent website that includes some info and most often a picture, is there something like this that covers state wide or even the metro, I seem to think I ran across something like this before, but I can't seem to locate something like this today

Perfect exactly what I was looking for, I was close, just couldn't find it.
I like to check out my local offenders once in awhile.

I believe the DOC's offender locator only works on people in state custody or county jails with DOC holds. If someone is in a city lockup or county jail you have to deal with the facility directly, and it's not necessarily a single county contact. For instance, at least in the past, I've had to deal directly with the HennCo workhouse instead of the HennCo jail to find out about certain people. And if the person is committed to a hospital, they won't be listed anywhere.

This is also a great database, good for looking up MN criminal records: http://www.mncriminals.com/ . You have to register, but it's free.

This database allows you to obtain information on individuals who are in custody or have been released from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Jail in the past seven days. The information in this database is updated hourly and may not include records on recent arrivals to the jail who are currently in intake.

We should put this thread in the reference section. Great resources.

I don't think he'll be getting out anytime soon since he's serving two consecutive life sentences plus like 15 years. Scary to think that I met and talked with the guy within a few days of one of the murders at my high school 5 year reunion. He was carrying a brief case (which wasn't all that odd for him since he did that in high school to) and was caught and arrested some time later carrying a brief case with a .38 in it that the police believe he used in the murders.

Am I the only one who, on first reading the title, thought the question would be about being searched at the jail?
