I stopped by the Rockford Road library last night and from the curb I noticed that the familiar yellow sign that says "Hennepin County Bans Dangerous Weapons On These Premises" had taken on a different look with a smaller font.

As I got closer, I noticed there was some small type on the bottom that said something to the effect of "This does not apply to holders of a valid permit to carry a pistol under Minn stat 624.xxx."

I took a picture with my phone and am trying to figure out how to transfer it via the silly PC/USB cable I have. I don't know if the tiny text will show up well on a 640 x 480 pic. I will post it as soon as I get it figgered out.

I don't know is this was a direct result of the Reaver saga posted in this thread or not: http://www.twincitiescarry.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=401

But, it's a good thing, and almost an advertisement for getting a permit. It sort of says "No weapons, unless you get a permit".

EDIT Here's the pic (wow that camera ain't bad on my phone!)

Good Job REAVER3!

I'd say they wouldn't have changed their signage unless slapped with fees and lawsuits.

Score one for the good guys!!

I'll swing by the Eden Prairie one on the way home to see if they got theirs changed too.

I'll grab a picture if it has.

Another tip of the hat to reaver3...

Excellent news!

I still love that sign, though, banning dangerous weapons.

I guess I'll only bring safe weapons in there.

Too bad they are not a private company that we can reward with our business...

Anyone going to try an open carry there any time soon?

Although they are a public service, a letter/email to their supervisor or some higher authority goes a long way. EVERYBODY likes kudos!!!

I'm curious what the point of that would be.

BTW, I read the reaver thread last night thanks to a kind member who pointed me there. I must say WOW! That takes guts and character. Nicely done!

I assume you mean the open carry part...

As a rule (not hard and fast, mind you) I don't open carry, and I don't think that practice will change. I know some here do quite a bit of open carry and I'm merely curious as to responses/comments/questions posed to them should they happen in a Henn. Co. Library...

Nice picture, BTW, Dean. I'll leave my camera in the car and just report on the status of the E.P. branch...

I was just at the Ridgedale library today; they have not yet corrected their sign banning "Dangerous Weapons".

I saw a sign at Frontiersman about a safety recall of some Smith & Wesson 1911s. I assume these must be the weapons that are banned at the library, because the firing pin safety can cause the gun to fail to fire, certainly a dangerous situation in a gunfight. Maybe I'll ask the librarian. ;)

Does Ridgedale have a District Court complex attached?

Yes, I mean the open carry part. So the point of open carry into a library is really a "what if" kind of thing then?

Pretty much... I'm just looking for report as to what happens, if anything, next time one of us happens to be open carrying in a library.

Ideally, my question will never get answered as it should now be a non-issue... Hopefully...

Yes, it does (I just stopped by today to check).
