We shall see . . . . . . .
Very, very professional and courteous. The lady handled it like she'd done it a million times and it was commonplace. None of the "issues" others have mentioned about other counties.
Dunno if it's practice at all SO's but they gave me a couple gun locks for free as well.

The police get free locks from the Joyce Foundation folks. It's a way to get everyone on board for "reasonable" gun lock rules

Does this mean we could bankrupt Joyce by taking locks for all of our firearms?

Gun locks aren't necessarily bad things, but I can see thru to the . . . . well, I guess I'd say sarcasm for lack of better . . . . . of your saying "reasonable" . . . .
Free gun locks are good, but the question is the motive behind them. I take it the motive behind distributing them is in question.

I think there are legitimate uses for them, honest, and don't have any problem with anybody using their own money to hand them out, but I worry -- with some good reason -- about the folks who want to make their use mandatory.

I got 2 with my permit App in Dakota (30 days ago, still not here)
Very nice people.
Here is the group that supplies the locks:

No idea about the motivation, but I feel better having them on the lesser used firearms with a curious toddler around... (God forbid I leave the safe open)

You may want to read thru the other Dakota County thread, there were some phone numbers and contacts over there.
Dakota Co. taking longer than 30 days

Yeah, I appreciate it... I'll give it another day or two... I'm not gonna get all up in arms (no pun intended) a few days late is no biggie...

The lady at the desk in Hastings really is a sweetheart.
They must still be having computer "issues".

Well, it's over 30 days an I haven't received anything . . . . . .
Would there be a "special" number to call to follow up?

34 days for me. I have been calling every day this week. They keep telling me that the approving office is out sick.
Maybe you will have better luck.

I just spoke to Sherrif Gudmundson, who was very polite, apologized, and said he would sign it and get it out in the mail today.
He also said that they requested $$ in the budget to have another staffer on to handle the permits.

Dude, thanks for the number and options. I flew right through. After a few second pause, the female on the other ends said it is in a big pile. I said okay, what does that mean? After another pause, she said it would be going out on Wednesday since tomorrow is a holiday. I didn't bother asking why it didn't make today's mail.
So, in theory, I should have the card by Saturday, at the latest (yes, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for snail mail, though I probably shouldn't be doing so).
