Short form: MN Firefly -- the local Firefly/Serenity fan group -- is doing a fundraising showing of Serenity at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis on June 23. [ETA: for those of you who haven't seen Serenity, well, it's terrific -- and it's got great gun values.)
Let's be there.
Step one -- decide if you want in. (Some people will have some problems with some of the agenda of the folks at Equality Now. That's okay; I do, too. On the other hand, I can't imagine that there's anybody here who doesn't agree with at least some of their agenda -- is anybody here not against female genital mutilation?) It's up to you; you probably want to read the rest before deciding, and look at their website.
Step two -- hit the tipjar and contribute what you can. I've committed $250 that, to be honest, is a stretch at the moment -- I'd very much appreciate folks helping to defray that. (In the unlikely event that we go over, we'll become a double hero, or whatever.)
Step three -- buy a ticket. (We only get two tickets with the Big Damn Hero package.)
Step four -- get a TCCarry tshirt. If you already have a tshirt, skip this step.
Step five -- on June 23, show up at the shindig, wearing your tshirt, and enjoy both the party and then the movie. Remember that, if enough of us do this, we're going to be very visible ambassadors of the carry community, and there'll likely be a fair amount of press coverage -- this will be an interesting time, given that there will be many folks there who are not necessarily sympathetic to self-defense issues. (We'll be talking more about issues around open carry and generating press interest as the time approaches.)
Be sure to applaud in a happy and enthusiastic way when the TCCarry logo appears on the screen.
We get a 1/2 page ad in the program book; I've already talked to Oleg, and he's on it. (My idea: a cute young woman in period dress, visibly displaying an appropriate Colt Revolver. Caption something very much like: "Equality? Sam Colt settled that in 1847.")
Full disclosure: twincitiescarry.com isn't just the gateway to the Forum, but to my own training website; I do get some benefit out of that.
Over to y'all . . .

I'll have to talk to the woman in charge .. .. . but I figure if she can drag me to events where I run into Al Franken, She shouldn't put up much a fight about this.
I'd be great to meet a few more of all ya'll.

I'll bet I can talk the wife into finding a sitter and going out if I throw in a chance to meet Joel in the bargain.
Threw another $50 your way regardless of my attendance.

. . . between pledges and actual paypal payments, we're now over the $250, and I've set the payment in.
That is, though, no reason to stop -- any additional monies collected will go to the same charity and, if we manage to get another $250 or more, we'll get another Big Damn Hero package.
So, if you haven't contributed, and both can and want to, please do.
That said, at this point, we may as well focus on getting our numbers up; the more folks showing up at the shindig and the movie in TCCarry t-shirts, the better...
