You can read the 911 transcripts here:

http://madfi.org/post/treptow22.html

If you wish, you can view the original PDF at
http://madfi.org/post/treptow_911.pdf

Note that every incidence of "he," "his" or "him" or any identification of the injured police officer have been redacted with #####.

My thanks to Anoka County Central Communications (the 911 dispatch center) for their pretty quick turnaround of my request.

Here's the transcript, translated to HTML. There may be slight formatting weirdness, but it's complete:

(If you don't have HTML turned on in your profile, this will look funny. Go turn it on.)

Maybe inappropriate, but this

Okay, can you tell me if it is an officer or a person,

made me laugh.

I found substituting "person of penile crainiality" for ######### in most instances makes for entertaining reading.

Treptow was also the FIRST to call 911, got away from the threat, then made the 911 call, with the adreneline pumping...................good job on that aspect. As for the shoot.............I'll wait and see

Thanks for the post.....I've been wanting to hear more about this for days.

So......the missing portions would be references to race or sex or both?

Before reading this I had a hunch that most of the blame rested with the cop......now I'm not so sure. And I don't know exactly why.

Mostly intuition, I guess.

I wonder if a jury will eventually decide?

Call #3. "...an XXXXXXXX just got shot..."

Key word "an." Any chance that they used the word officer instead of asshat? As in, they came to the aid of the cop who id'ed him/her self and called 911 before the cop called in his own shooting in call #4?

It's clear in #1 that the Treptows weren't using the word officer (maybe cop) so so likely didn't know it was a cop.

Sounds to me like the one person who saw anything saw the cop pull a gun first.

But that is just my interpretation.

Hardly. Imagine that it was actually (hypothetical words added and bolded):

"Caller - Um, the guy that was shot, is driving, was driving a make/model. It’s, driver fell
out of the car um, cuz I seen #### pull a gun and I almost crapped in my pants."

#### could be either driver.

I'd say that the understandably flustered Mrs. Treptow (Female Caller on Call #1) probably wasn't cooking up a story when she said, "Some ######### just pulled a gun on us and my hus." and when she reiterated it a few sentences later. She was clearly under duress and having trouble communicating and I think it would have been hard to lie about what she thought happen, yet still pull off such good acting about being distraught. Of course, her perception of what happened may not have been accurate. But my guess is there's a lot more info about who drew first that was gleaned after the 911 calls from witnesses.

They didn't redact Treptow's information. The make/model/color of his vehicle, the spelling of his name, that's all there.

Just because "it's driver" and "cuz I seen #### pull a gun" are in the same sentence as transcribed doesn't mean that the puller of the gun is the one that fell out of the car. If it were a sentence in a grammar test, it might, but it was an excited utterance that you really can't make that inference from. For all we know, the caller only saw Treptow pull the gun, the cop fall out, and mentally coupled the second as the consequence of the first.

True. And like I said, it's just my interpretation. It doesn't mean anything, at all, to anyone. :)

Personally, I think it's going to play out exactly the way it looks like it's playing out. Treptow shouldn't have flipped off the cop, but he's not going to be charged.

That's my guess.

Since when do undercover officers (supposedly working a case) break "cover" to write traffic tickets? I'll tell you when, ... never.

Also, since when does an officer (who is acting properly) not shoot anyone who puts two rounds into him? Same answer again, ... never.

The undercover officer knew he was in the wrong and decided not to compound it by discharging his own weapon. The only sensible decision he made that day.

X2. All details of the transcripts aside, that says it all.

A slight sidetrack...... my wife and I were in St Paul for some reason a few years ago. This old lady driver was making illegal lane changes and almost crashed into us. I honked my horn and then flipped her off (this was circa 1996/97) Shortly after she turned off of Kellogg Blvd, and unmarked car with two men in suits pulled alongside me and asked me if that finger was for him as he showed his badge. I said, "No" and asked if he didn't see the idiotic old lady that almost caused a crash?? They just went on their way. I was a little concerned for a couple of reasons, one, were they going to attack me or arrest me and two, they took no action towards the old lady that was driving dangerously. They were only a car behind me, so it would have seemed to me that they would have witnessed the entire incident and just were looking to cause some trouble. Needless to say, that old lady went free to roam the streets of St Paul, with the potential of harming someone through her negligent and inattentive driving.

Several issues against the undercover officer...
1) engaging and actively participating in a road rage incident.
2) driving on the shoulder to pass Treptow.
3) being in another cities jurisdiction for an unknown reason.
4) Being last in calling 911.
5) pulling a gun on a CCW holder(that is my opinion based on items 1-4)

Treptow's wife 911 call seems pretty convincing to me, considering how quickly the 911 call was made, and how stressed she appeared to me.

I get the feeling that undercover officer was waving his gun to intimidate(finger off trigger) and not ready to engage. That is why Treptow successfully pulled his weapon and fired--Treptow was very clear on his instict to defend himself and family.

I really hope the truth comes out via a witness. This will be interesting on how it turns out.
