Call up Sheriff Gudmundson and tell him to get his ass in gear. From the reports here it seems like has gotten some out under 30 days. Maybe your wive's slipt through a crack?

lady was at lunch at almost 2:00. which sounds like bs to me but whatever.
it is a little irrating to me when mine took less than 30days to get.
Is their any recourse that i can take for this? or is it a law that goes unpunished because "they are the law"?

Call Marc Berris. Perhaps he'll be so kind as to remind the Sheriff how the law works.

I just told a student of mine to call Dakota County because today is day 32 for him. They told him that they are now taking 45 days to process applications. I told him to call back and firmly tell them "the law says you must process my app in 30 days, whats your problem?" I will post the response if he calls me back.

I really wish there was a "over 30 days = $100 refund" stipulation. I would imagine a vast improvement in speed.

I emailed Sheriff Gudmundson and he tells me they were swamped with applications in January, 174, and they are doing the best they can but some are taking more than 30 days. He is trying to get another person to help, currently only one person handles the permit applications.

Did it sound like he was aware that a failure to deny is a defacto approval, and he will have people carrying without a card?

I copied and pasted Sub 6 of the statute in my original email and he responded saying he knows what the law says. January had many more apps than typical and he is not trying to slow down the process. Based on earlier emails with him I believe that they are doing what they can do at this point. He has no problem with the law like some other sheriffs do.

Being one of the "soft white guys" Gudmundson denigrated publicly, I would politely disagree with that statement.

I wish i was in state as i would stop by and ask him politely in person what the hold up is but i am in Sacramento, CA till march then off to Iraq and the phone tag game is horrible when calling any county office. I'm not real sure what to do to get it resolved. if someone would pm me his email i will send him an email about the situation and post the reply to here. Do to being in school i have limited time on the internet and can't seem to navigate their sight form our school computers.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Lee

Dakota County 29 daysDakota county 29 days and still waiting.Dakota County - 41 DaysDakota County - submitted 10/3/08Dakota Co. taking longer than 30 daysI find it amazing that they are "swamped" and are begging to hire someone to help handle. (That's the same story I got) According to The 11/24/08 Pioneer press: Pioneer Press article 11/24 wrote: In anticipation of the five-year renewal deadline, the Dakota County sheriff's office added a second clerk to handle permit applications and background checks for residents who wish to carry their guns in public.
But the rush hasn't been as heavy as expected.... It must be hard to convince the county to let you hire another person (even thouh they told the newspaper they allready brought on a 2nd person) when you have Dakota Co. Sheriff staff going on record saying that more help is not needed. Chief Deputy David Bellow wrote: '"My sense is that a lot of people went out and got the permit for the first time, but they realized that, one, carrying a weapon is heavy. It's burdensome, especially in plain clothes," said Chief Deputy David Bellows of the Dakota County sheriff's office. Bye Bye Gundmundson.
